We all know life is a series of events, some we plan and look forward to like the move to a new home; some we just have to deal with, such as a death of a loved one. Here at Stevens Son and Pope we have a long history of helping people whatever life throws at them.

We offer a wide range of services which can help everyone plan for their future so that life can be just that little more certain. From making your Will, to managing your affairs to administering your Estate we can help you and your family through.
It is so important to all of us to ensure that our families and those we care for are provided for. Making a Will need not be a daunting prospect or something you leave until you “have to”. It should be seen as a positive not something to dread. Make an appointment and talk to us about what you want. We will guide you and help you achieve your goals.
As you get older you may no longer be able to deal with the day to day running of your affairs due to poor health. Appointing your chosen Attorney to take over this role for you can provide you with peace of mind and certainty. A Lasting Power of Attorney can provide this. You can appoint one or more people you trust to manage your affairs with the option of providing for a substitute attorney.
We can help ensure that you obtain all the financial support you are entitled to, to help you remain in your home for as long as possible, and, if the time come, help to ensure that you receive as much financial support as possible towards your care fees either at home or in care home.
We offer advice on how to minimise the amount of any inheritance tax liability which might arise on your death. This can include lifetime gifts to family members, changing the ownership of property and/or making charitable gifts. We will liaise with your accountant or tax adviser to ensure that the outcome is as tax efficient as possible and arrange for independent financial advice if required.
On the death of a loved one we can help you through the whole administration process. From registering the death with all the necessary authorities: preparing all the paperwork to obtain a Grant including obtaining valuations and completing Inland Revenue Returns; obtaining the necessary Grant to enable their assets to be gathered in; paying all debts and legacies and finally distributing the balance amongst the beneficiaries. We will then prepare a full Estate Account showing the value of the Estate, the liabilities and the final distribution amounts to the beneficiaries.
We aim to provide you with the support and guidance you want whatever the situation. Helping you plan and provide for the future of yourself, your family and loved ones whatever may happen.
